Marcel Bernard
Marcel Bernard (born May 18, 1914 in Lille , † April 29, 1994 ) was a French tennis player .
Career
He won the French tennis championships in Roland Garros in 1946 . The unseeded Bernard defeated Jaroslav Drobný in five sets in the final . In men's doubles, he won the French Championships in 1936 with Jean Borotra and in 1946 with Yvon Petra . In mixed he won in 1935 with Lolette Payot and in 1936 together with Billie Yorke , who, unlike his other partners, did not come from France but from England.
The French championships were also held during the Second World War, but only French were allowed to participate. In these closed championships, Bernard won the men's doubles together with Yvon Petra in 1943 and 1944.
