career

In the coaching era of Albert Sing and alongside his teammates Anton Allemann , Eugen Meier , Heinz Schneiter and Ernst Wechselberger , the defensive player Flückiger won four Swiss championships (1957, 1958, 1959 and 1960) and two cup winners (1953 and 1958) with the BSC Young boys . In the 1-0 first leg success on April 15, 1959 in the Wankdorf Stadium, which was filled with 60,000 spectators, against the team of coach Albert Batteux , Flückiger was active as "hanging left winger" and reinforced YB's defense. He played four times for the Swiss national team between 1953 and 1959 . The man from Bern made his debut on September 20, 1953 in Prague in the international match against Czechoslovakia as a left defender in the "Nati". He was a defender of the 1954 World Cup squad and was on June 17 in Lausanne in a 2-1 win over Italy in coach Karl Rappan 's team. Five years later, on April 26, 1959, he was used again in Basel in the game against Yugoslavia in the "Nati".

Flückiger was a long-time board member of the Young Boys and the first YB sports director. He was an honorary member of the BSC Young Boys.
