Marcel Gecov (born January 1, 1988 in Prague ) is a Czech football player . The defensive midfielder last played for the Polish first division club Śląsk Wrocław .
Career
society
Marcel Gecov started playing football at Slavia Prague at the age of six . The right foot went through all youth teams and was appointed to the first division squad for the 2005/06 season at the age of 17. For the senior team, the midfielder did not play a league game in a year and a half and was loaned to league rivals SK Kladno in January 2007 .
In the away game against Tescoma Zlín Gecov made his first division debut on March 17, 2007, in the second half of the 2006/07 season he played another seven games for Kladno, a goal he did not succeed. In early 2008, Gecov moved to FC Slovan Liberec .
In the summer of 2011, Gecov moved to the English first division club Fulham , where he signed a contract until 2013. At the Cottagers he could not prevail in the following season and came there only two competitive appearances.
In August 2012, the Belgian first division club KAA Gent announced the commitment of Gecov, who signed a four-year contract there. Half a year later he left Ghent and returned to Slavia Prague. In January 2015 he moved to Rapid Bucharest in Romania for half a year . In the summer of 2015 she moved to Poland to Śląsk Wrocław . For Śląsk, he played a total of 23 games in the Polish Ekstraklasa in the 2015/2016 season . After the end of the season, the contract was terminated by mutual agreement.
National team
Marcel Gecov, whose adviser Zdeněk Nehoda is, has so far played for the Czech U-17 , U-18 and U-19 selection. At the U-20 World Cup in Canada in 2007 he played six games and was runner-up. Between 2008 and 2010, the midfielder played 18 games for the Czech U-21 national team .
In August 2011, he made his senior national team debut in a friendly against Norway .
