Marcel Alejandro Ruiz Suárez (born October 26, 2000 in Mérida , Yucatán ) is a Mexican football player . The midfielder is under contract with the first division club Tijuana .

Career

Ruiz started playing football at the age of five as a youth at Querétaro FC . On July 21, 2018, he made his Liga MX debut in a 1-1 draw with Atlas Guadalajara . Already on August 22, the 17-year-old Ruiz scored his first goal in the top Mexican division in a 1-0 away win against the UNAM Pumas . He was able to prepare two goals in the game against Monarcas Morelia for nine days . In this 2018/19 season he already played 35 competitive games in which he scored two goals and as many assists. In the shortened 2019/20 season , he played 21 league games in which he scored four goals.

In mid-June 2020, Marcel Ruiz's move to league competitor Club Tijuana was announced.

National team

On the occasion of the test matches against Brazil and Japan , Marcel Ruiz was nominated for the first time by coach Diego Ramírez for the Mexican U-20 national team in September 2018 .

Style of play

Despite his young age of 18, Marcel Ruiz is already moving on the field like a seasoned midfielder. He shows great calm and serenity in possession of the ball, so he rarely makes wrong decisions. He himself names Andrés Iniesta as his role model. His style of play is also very reminiscent of that of the former FC Barcelona player .
