Marcel de Graaff

Marcel de Graaff (born April 7, 1962 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch politician . He is close to the right-wing populist Partij voor de Vrijheid (PVV).

Life

According to his self-disclosure, MJRL de Graaff studied theology at Radboud University Nijmegen from 1981 to 1988 . Since 1989 he has worked as an IT consultant, among others at the Royal Post and Telephone Company of the Netherlands. In 2010 he also briefly held a position as a religion teacher.

From June 7, 2011 to July 1, 2014 de Graaff was Senator on behalf of the PVV in the First Chamber of the States General . For this position he was personally appointed by party member Geert Wilders . From September 2012 to July 2014 he was parliamentary group leader of the PVV parliamentary group in the Senate. His successor was Alexander Kops .

In the European elections in the Netherlands in 2014 , Marcel de Graaff succeeded in entering the European Parliament as a member . As the top candidate of the PVV, van de Graaff also took over the leadership of the five-member PVV parliamentary group in the EU Parliament. Van de Graaff co-chaired the Europe of Nations and Freedom (ENF) group, which was founded in 2015 and is dominated by the Front National , together with Marine Le Pen . He is also a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Delegation for relations with Israel and the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
