Marcelo Palau , full name Marcelo José Palau Balzaretti , (born August 1, 1985 in Florida ) is a Uruguayan soccer player who also received Paraguayan citizenship on September 21, 2016 and is therefore eligible to play in Albirroja .

Career

The 1.77-meter tall midfielder Palau played in his youth for Club Atlético Florida . At least in 2003 he was a member of the youth teams of the Cuarta División and Tercera División of Defensor Sporting that were trained by Juan Tejera . He started his career in 2007 in the ranks of the Club Atlético Atenas team . The following year he was active with the Rampla Juniors and played a total of 26 games (two goals) in the Primera División in the Clausura and Apertura 2008 across all seasons . In early 2009 he joined the Montevideo Wanderers , which he left after 23 league appearances and two goals scored in mid-December of that year. From then on, he continued his career at Puebla FC . For the Mexicans he played in 13 first division matches and scored three goals. In mid-July 2010, Nacional Montevideo signed him . In the "Bolsos" he was used in the Apertura 2010 seven times (no goal) in the top Uruguayan league. In mid-December 2010 he took up an engagement with CD Cruz Azul . There he completed 15 top division games (one goal) and three games (no goal) in the CONCACAF Champions League until May 2011 . In January 2012, the Paraguay-based club Guaraní Palau signed. In the following years he was used in 59 league games (ten goals) and four clashes (no goal) of the Copa Sudamericana 2012 across seasons . In July 2013 it was loaned to Athletico Paranaense until the end of the year . The Brazilians used him twice in the A series and six times in the Copa do Brasil . He did not score a hit. Since the beginning of 2014 he has been a member of the Guaraní Club again. So far (as of March 10, 2017) he has met the opponent's goal 22 times in 123 league appearances in his second station with the Paraguayos. He also played 17 games of the Copa Libertadores and scored two goals ( 2014 : 2/0; 2015 : 12/1; 2016 : 2/1; 2017 : 1/0).

In addition, another club station at Deportivo Quito was recorded in the early years of his career .
