Marcia Pelham, Countess of Yarborough
Marcia Amelia Mary Pelham, Countess of Yarborough , 7th Baroness Fauconberg, 13th Baroness Conyers (born Lane-Fox ; born October 18, 1863 , † November 17, 1926 in Brocklesby , Lincolnshire ), was a British peeress .
Life
She was the older daughter of Sackville Lane-Fox, 12th Baron Conyers (1827-1888) from his marriage to Mary Curteis (1841-1921).
On August 5, 1886, she married Charles Anderson-Pelham, 4th Earl of Yarborough (1859-1936) and henceforth led the courtesy title Countess of Yarborough . Her husband changed the family name from "Anderson-Pelham" to "Pelham" in 1905 under a royal license.
Since her only brother, Hon. Sackville Lane-Fox (1861–1879), had died young, the title of nobility of her father, Baron Conyers , fell on his death in Abeyance in 1888 between Marcia and her younger sister Violet Lane-Fox (1865–1929 ). The Abeyance was ended on June 8, 1892 in favor of Marcias, making her 13th Baroness Conyers . On September 29, 1903, the title Baron Fauconberg , which had been in Abeyance since 1490, was restored in her favor , so that she also became 7th Baroness Fauconberg. On the same day, the title of Baron Darcy de Knayth , which was already due to her father de iure, was restored to her sister Violet as the 16th baroness.
During the First World War , she set up a military hospital at her husband's family home, Brocklesby Park in Lincolnshire, for which she was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1920 .
From her marriage to Charles Pelham, 4th Earl of Yarborough, she had four sons:
- Charles Sackville Pelham, Lord Worsley (1887-1914), Lieutenant in the British Army;
- Sackville George Pelham, 5th Earl of Yarborough (1888-1948);
- The Hon. D'Arcy Francis Pelham (1892-1892);
- Marcus Herbert Pelham, 6th Earl of Yarborough (1893–1966).
She died of African sleeping sickness in 1826 at the age of 63 . Since her eldest son Charles died on October 30, 1914 during the First World War in the First Battle of Ypres , her second son Sackville inherited her two baronies when she died. In 1936 he inherited her husband as 5th Earl of Yarborough .
