Marcin Baszczyński [ ˈmartsin baʃˈtʃɨɲsci ] (born June 7, 1977 in Ruda Śląska , Poland ) is a former Polish football player .
Club career
The right defender began his professional career in 1995 at Ruch Chorzów . In July 1996 he was first used in the Polish league . In the same year he won the Polish Cup with his club . In 2000 he moved to Wisła Kraków and won the Polish championship with the club in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009. He also won the Polish Cup with Krakow in 2002 and 2003 and was the 2001 league cup winner. After nine years at Wisła Kraków, Marcin Baszczyński moved to the Greek first division club Atromitos for the 2009/10 season . Here he was a regular in defense and played 45 league games for the Greeks in two seasons. For the 2011/12 season he returned to Poland to Polonia Warsaw . Again, Marcin Baszczyński was able to prevail quickly and was an important support in the game of Polonia Warsaw. In January 2013 he dissolved his contract with Polonia Warsaw by mutual agreement and moved to his home club and league competitor Ruch Chorzów. After the end of the season he ended his career.
National team
In the national team , he completed a total of 35 international matches (1 goal) between 2000 and 2006. He also took part in the 2006 World Cup, where he was in the starting line-up in all three group matches.
