Marco Beeken (* 1981 in Cloppenburg ) is a German professor for chemistry didactics at the University of Osnabrück .

Life

Beeken finished school in 2000 with the Abitur at the Clemens-August-Gymnasium in Cloppenburg. After completing his community service in the St. Josefs Hospital in Cloppenburg, he began studying chemistry and biology at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg in 2001 . In 2006 he passed the first state examination and then worked in Ilka Parchmann's working group as a research assistant in chemistry didactics at the University of Oldenburg. In 2010 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD.

Professional background

After completing his doctorate, Beeken completed his legal clerkship at the grammar school in Wildeshausen and at the Oldenburg study seminar. He completed his legal clerkship with the second state examination in 2011. From 2011 to 2013 Beeken worked as a teacher at the Gymnasium Rhauderfehn, from 2013 to 2015 in the same position at the Gymnasium Liebfrauenschule in Cloppenburg. In the summer of 2015 he accepted a call to a junior professorship for chemistry didactics at the University of Osnabrück. In May 2018 he was offered a professorship at the University of Osnabrück, which he accepted on August 1, 2018. His research focus is on the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative science communication formats as well as the development and evaluation of school laboratory settings for the Osnabrück school laboratory GreenLab_OS.

politics

Beeken is a member of the CDU and was elected chairman of the CDU city association of Cloppenburg in 2018. Since 2016 he has been a member of the city council of Cloppenburg, where he is deputy chairman of the CDU city council group. He is also chairman of the school committee.
