Marco Cannone
Marco Cannone (born March 14, 1966 in La Spezia ) is an Italian mathematician who deals with partial differential equations in hydrodynamics and harmonic analysis . He is a professor at the University of Marne-La-Vallée .
Cannone received his Laureate Diploma at the University of Milan in 1989 with Carlo Cercignani (Su un problema di inversione in meccanica statistica), his DEA at the University of Paris IX (Dauphiné) with Yves Meyer (Utilisations des ondelettes en turbulence) and he was in 1994 with Meyer holds a doctorate with distinction (Ondelettes, Paraproduits et Navier-Stokes). In 2000 he completed his habilitation at the University of Paris-South (Rôle des oscillations et des espaces de Besov dans la résolution des équations de Navier-Stokes), where he was also Maître de Conferences from 1995 to 2000. From 2000 he was professor at the University of Paris-Ost (from 2005 1st class, since 2015 class exceptionelle). From 2003 to 2010 he was head of the Analysis and Applied Mathematics Laboratory.
He applied (partly in collaboration with Yves Meyer) the theory of wavelets (French Ondelettes ) and other methods of harmonic analysis (Paley-Wiener decomposition) to the Navier-Stokes equation of hydrodynamics, which describes turbulence , a difficult mathematical problem . Cannone also studied Prandtl's boundary layer equations.
At first he dealt with equations of statistical mechanics (Enskog equation).
Among other things, he was visiting scholar at Washington University (with Guido Weiss ), Japan, Seoul and Breslau (Wrocław), South America, Hong Kong, Beijing, Palermo.
