Marco Polo is an impact crater on the front of the moon in the mountains of the Montes Apenninus east of the Eratosthenes crater . The crater is very badly eroded, the wall has almost completely disappeared except for the eastern half and the remains are hardly to be seen in the mountainous surroundings.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1961 after the Italian traveler Marco Polo .
