Marcus Walthall Dinwiddie (born August 27, 1906 in Washington, DC , † March 20, 1951 in Oak Ridge ) was an American sports marksman .
successes
Marcus Dinwiddie took part in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris , where he competed in the prone position with the small bore rifle at 50 m. With 396 points, he was two points behind Olympic champion Pierre Coquelin de Lisle and two points ahead of third-placed Josias Hartmann , so that he won the silver medal. After the Games, he enrolled at the University of Virginia and continued to practice shooting as a member of the Monticello National Guard . With his team he took part in national competitions several times.
