Marcus Marshall (born November 25, 1978 in Burnie , Queensland ) is a retired Australian automobile racing driver . From 2003 to 2011 he competed in some V8 Supercars races . He was also active in the Champ Car World Series in 2005 and in the A1GP in 2006 .

Career

Marshall began his motorsport career in 1997 in club racing, where he was active until 2000. In 2000 he switched to formula racing . He was sixth in the Queensland Formula Ford and 17th in the Australian Formula Ford. The next two seasons Marshall stayed in the Australian Formula Ford. After seventh place in the 2001 season, he was third in the 2002 championship.

In 2003 Marshall was active in touring car / GT racing . He was runner-up in the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup . In addition, he started two races in the Porsche Supercup and competed in the V8 supercar series . He completed six races in the Konica V8 Supercar Series , the second class of V8 Supercars, and two races in the V8 Supercar Championship Series , the first category.

In 2004 Marshall returned to formula racing. He competed in individual races in the Australian and British Formula 3 championships . In the Australian Formula 3 he was sixth with three wins and in the British series he finished 17th with one victory in the championship. He also took part again in a race in the V8 Supercar Championship Series. In 2005 Marshall got a cockpit with Team Australia in the Champ Car World Series , where he became a teammate of Alex Tagliani . For the season finale, Marshall was replaced by his compatriot Will Power . While Tagliani finished seventh with third places, eighth place was Marshall's best result. He was at the end of the season on the 16th championship course. He also took part in two races in the V8 Supercar Championship Series. In early 2006 , Marshall took part in an A1GP race weekend for the Australian team at the Sentul International Circuit . In the main race, he achieved a podium finish with a third place.

He then concentrated on his involvement in the V8 supercars. He completed the full 2006 season of the V8 Supercar Championship Series. He was 29th in the drivers' championship. In 2007 his main focus was on the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup. There he reached the fourth championship place with three wins. He also took part in eight races in the V8 Supercar Championship Series and in six races in the Fujitsu V8 ​​Supercar Series , the second V8 supercar series. He achieved two podium finishes in the Fujitsu V8 ​​Supercar Series. In 2008 Marshall was again active all season in the V8 Supercar Championship Series. He finished the championship in 23rd place.

From 2009 to 2011, Marshall did not complete a full racing season. He competed in a few races in the V8 Supercar Championship Series each season. In addition, he took part in some races in the Fujitsu V8 ​​Supercar series in 2009 and 2010 and in some races in the V8 Utes , where Utes were driven, in 2011 .
