Marcus Rafael Nikkanen (born January 26, 1904 in Helsinki , Finland ; † March 28, 1985 ibid) was a Finnish figure skater who started in a single run .

He is the most successful Finnish figure skater in men's singles and the only Finn who could win a medal in this competition at world championships .

The ten-time Finnish champion Nikkanen took part in seven world championships between 1929 and 1937 and was never worse than seventh. In 1933 in Zurich he won the bronze medal behind Karl Schäfer and Ernst Baier . He also won the bronze medal once at the European Championships, in 1930 in Berlin behind Karl Schäfer and the Czech Otto Gold . It was the second bronze medal for Finland at European Championships after that of Gunnar Jakobsson in 1923 . Nikkanen represented Finland three times at the Olympic Games . He finished sixth in St. Moritz in 1928 , fourth in Lake Placid in 1932 and seventh in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1936 .
