Marcus Alan Williams (* 8. September 1996 in Corona , California ) is an American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He plays as safety for the New Orleans Saints .

college

Williams, who showed considerable athletic talent early on and also showed strong performances as a track and field athlete and basketball player during high school , had offers from several universities, decided on the University of Utah and successfully played college football for its team, the Utes , between 2014 and 2016 he set a total of 188 tackles and prevented eight passes. He also got eleven interceptions .

NFL

Williams was selected 42nd overall by the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft and was awarded a four-year contract for $ 6.24 million , of which $ 3.4 million was guaranteed. Williams was able to establish himself as a professional straight away and was a starter in 15 games in his rookie season . He had to pause one game due to an injury.

The good impression he left with his consistently good performances - so was he about by the Writers Association Pro Football elected to the All-Rookie Team in 2017 - was, however, by a serious error in the play-off -Partie against the Minnesota Vikings clouded . Due to his poor defensive behavior , he enabled Stefon Diggs a 61-yard touchdown a few seconds before the end of the game. This turn, the American media spoke rapidly from Minneapolis Miracle (Miracle of Minneapolis ), meant the surprising victory for the Vikings and the end of the season for the Saints.
In 2018 and 2019 he showed consistently good leadership as Free Safety. He scored his first
sack against the Atlanta Falcons in 2018 and his first touchdown in 2019 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .
