Marcus Zeitler

Marcus Zeitler (* 13. March 1975 in Heidelberg ) is a German politician of the CDU and since the summer of 2019 Lord Mayor of Baden-Württemberg town of Hockenheim . Before that he was mayor of the city of Schönau .

Life

Zeitler grew up in Leimen , where he attended secondary school, then the Julius Springer School in Heidelberg , which he completed with a technical college entrance qualification. For ten years he worked as a doorman in the swimming pool music club in Heidelberg. From 1994 to 1998 he served in the German Armed Forces, including six months in SFOR abroad in Bosnia.

Zeitler is divorced and has two daughters with his partner. He is Roman Catholic and is active in several associations.

politics

Zeitler has been the mayor of Schönau in the Odenwald since 2007. In 2015 he was confirmed in office there with 86% of the vote.

In 2004 he became a member of the district council of the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis and was a member of the committee for schools, culture and sport there for 10 years. He is also the spokesman for the CDU district parliamentary group in Rhine-Neckar for the company's own construction and assets.

Zeitler is deputy district chairman of the CDU-Rhein-Neckar.

On July 21, 2019, he was elected Lord Mayor of Hockenheim with 56.3% of the vote in the second ballot. In the first ballot on July 7, 2019, it received 47.5% of the votes cast.
