Mareile Seeber-Tegethoff (born August 13, 1970 ) is a German ethnologist , biographer and author .

Life

Mareile Seeber-Tegethoff, daughter of Gisela and Günter Seeber , studied ethnology , religious studies and European ethnology in Marburg and Recife , Brazil , from 1990-1996 , where she researched the Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus and Afro-Brazilian religions .

In her doctorate (1996–2004) with Mark Münzel , she dealt intensively with the life stories of Brazilian scientists and religious believers, particularly highlighting the interdependencies between the two apparently separate worlds of religion and science . The basis for this was her field research in Brazil in the years 1999–2000, which was funded by a DAAD doctoral scholarship.

In 2004, Mareile Seeber-Tegethoff founded the biography workshop "Words & Life" in Braunschweig , in which she records personal memories of other people in individually designed books. Since 2017, "Words & Life" has also included a small publishing house that mainly publishes (auto) biographical works.
