Life

Migalski graduated from the University of Silesia in Katowice with a degree in political science in 1999 . He received his doctorate (“Conception of a 'Bridge between East and West' by Edvard Beneš - an attempt to preserve the independence of Czechoslovakia 1945–1948”) in 2001 at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the same university.

He works at the Institute of Political Science and Journalism at the University of Silesia.

He completed stays abroad at Czech universities in Brno / Brno, Budweis / České Budějovice and Olomouc / Olomouc. Migalski published several books and scientific papers.

As a political commentator, he often appears on radio and television, where he represented the line of the right-wing conservative party Law and Justice (PiS). In the European elections in Poland in 2009 , Migalski was elected to the European Parliament with 112,881 votes on the PiS list , but without joining the party. Like the other PiS MPs, he joined the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) parliamentary group . He is a member of the Committee for Culture and Education .

In August 2010, however, Migalski criticized the PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński in an open letter in which he held him responsible for the party's poor polling figures. He thus triggered a split in the PiS, in which he was mainly supported by younger and more moderate representatives of the party. In the European Parliament, Migalski was excluded from the PiS delegation, but remained a member of the ECR group. Together with three other MEPs and other members of the PiS, Migalski was finally involved on November 16, 2010 in the founding of the new Polska jest Najważniejsza (PjN) party . On June 10, 2011, he was elected vice-chairman of that party. With the help of PjN, he founded the new Polska Razem party, headed by the citizen platform defector Jarosław Gowin . A week later he was elected vice chairman. In March 2014, he resigned from the board of directors, but remained head of the Silesian party structures. A few months later, he was not re-elected to the European Parliament from the list of Polska Razem. On May 29, 2014, he renounced the party membership and withdrew from political activity.

He is one of the 89 people from the European Union against whom Russia imposed an entry ban in May 2015 .
