Marga Koske

Marga Koske (* 1912 ; † June 21, 1997 in Soest as Marga Grund) has made a name for herself through numerous publications on the history of the city of Soest and its surrounding area.

After completing her teaching degree at the Pedagogical Academy in Dortmund, Marga Koske worked as a teacher in East Prussia from 1935 to 1945, most recently in Elbing . As a war widow , she came to Soest in 1948 after fleeing and expelled via Lengerich (Westphalia) . From 1951 she was a teacher in Ampen , then in Soest at the Thomäschule and the Johannesschule, most recently as vice-principal.

Particularly noteworthy is her publication of the stock exchange register from 1685, which appeared in 1960, and is an outstanding source on the Soest stock exchange and its localities. Until the end of her life, she published numerous articles on the villages of the Soest Börde and the city of Soest, especially the Soest monasteries.

On November 29, 1989, Marga Koske received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
