Margaret Wheeler, Baroness Wheeler
Margaret Eileen Joyce Wheeler, Baroness Wheeler , ( MBE ) (* 25. March 1949 ) is a British trade union functionary and politician of the Labor Party and since 2010 a member of the House of Lords .
Life
Margaret Wheeler has worked as a trade union official and has also been involved in several public institutions and organizations such as a member of the Commission on Social Justice and the Commission for Employment and Skills . In addition, she was also active for the non-profit foundation The Work Foundation . Most recently, she was Director of Organization and Employee Development for UNISON , the union of public service workers and after Unite the Union, with 1.375 million members, the UK's second largest individual union.
On June 20, 2010, she was raised to the nobility by a letters patent as a Life Peeress with the title Baroness Wheeler , of Blackfriars in the City of London . On 14 July 2010 introducing (followed Introduction ) as a member of the House of Lords . Since then she has also been the parliamentary director of the opposition Labor faction in the House of Lords. On October 5, 2010, she gave her first speech in front of the House of Lords.
In addition to her political activities, she is a trustee of One World Action , Carer Support and Blackfriars Settlement , where she also acts as chairperson.
