Margarete Aburumieh

Margarete Aburumieh , née Plank, (born September 5, 1951 in Hollabrunn ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). She was a member of the Federal Council from 2000 to 2003 .

education and profession

After graduating from the Maria Regina Secondary School for Economics , she first attended the Pedagogical Academy of the Archdiocese of Vienna and then studied pedagogy and political science at the University of Vienna . After graduating, she was a teacher at various secondary schools in the Hollabrunn district from 1972 to 1977, after which she worked in her husband's ordination from 1982 to 2000. From 2000 she was the regional manager of the ÖVP women in Lower Austria. Aburumieh is the mother of two adult children.

Politics and functions

Aburumieh was a member of Melk's municipal council from 1985 to 1990 and Melk's city councilor for culture and tourism from 1990 to 1995. Afterwards she worked again as a councilor from 1995. Within the party, she was active as deputy district party leader of the ÖVP Melk from 1986 to 1992, from 1986 as district leader of the Austrian women's movement in the Melk district and from 1988 to 2000 she was deputy regional director of the Austrian women's movement in Lower Austria. Furthermore, she was involved between 1996 and 2000 as deputy city party chairwoman of the ÖVP Melk. From November 20, 2000 to April 23, 2003 she was for the ÖVP in the Federal Council.
