Margot Stejskal (born February 9, 1947 in Engelsdorf near Leipzig ) is a German opera singer (soprano).

Life

Margot Stejskal studied at the Musikhochschule Weimar and the Musikhochschule Leipzig as well as with Hanne-Lore Kuhse in Berlin. She won a prize in the competition for young opera singers and received the certificate of honor from the International Robert Stolz Society in Vienna . Margot Stejskal made her debut at the Staatstheater Cottbus (Musetta) in 1975 and was a member of the ensemble there from 1974 to 1977. Another station was the Dresden State Operetta from 1977 to 1980, followed by the Chemnitz Opera House (then Karl-Marx-Stadt) from 1980 to 1984. From 1984 she was Member of the ensemble of the German State Opera Berlin , where she was appointed chamber singer in 1986 .

Guest performances have taken Margot Stejskal to Japan, the USA, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Russia. She took on guest engagements at the Saxon State Opera in Dresden (there, inter alia, for the reopening in 1985 as Sophie in the "Rosenkavalier"), Leipzig Opera , Vienna Volksoper , Berlin Metropolitan Theater , Halle Opera House .
