Mary's Birth Market
The Marian Birth Market is a traditional horse market and fair at the beginning of September in Telgte (Westphalia). It looks back on 400 years of history.
The actual market takes place on a Tuesday around the birth of Mary . Traditionally, horses, but also other domestic and farm animals are traded, as well as agricultural implements and household items . A purchase is still completed with a handshake. Along with the fat market in Warendorf and the Send in Münster, it is one of the largest markets in the Münsterland .
On the weekend before, as well as on Monday and the market day, there will also be a fair in the Telgter "Planwiese" on the Ems and on other adjacent areas.
