Maria Catharina Tismar , b. Harder (born July 13, 1764 in Magdeburg ; † March 12, 1845 there ) was the founder of the foundation .

Life

Tismar was born as the daughter of the Magdeburg councilor Heinrich M. Harder . She married the district president George Tismar on April 30, 1784 in Magdeburg Cathedral . At least in the 1820s she lived, already widowed, at the address Breiter Weg 65 in Magdeburg.

Tismar and her daughter Caroline left several generous foundations. The monasteries of St. Georgii and St. Augustini as well as the Holy Spirit Church were considered. Further legacies went to the infant care facility and the city's poor charity.

The Tismar Foundations were intended primarily for the elderly, sick and needy people.

The foundation for the poor of the city of Magdeburg comprised 20,000 Reichstaler. The foundation was announced, at the request of the founder, only after the death of her daughter on August 8, 1857 in Berlin . After the necessary government approval and the formation of a reserve fund, the foundation began its work on July 13, 1859. The St. Georgii Hospital was responsible for the administration of the foundation. The city's magistrate was in charge.

Honor

In her honor the city of Magdeburg named a street ( Tismarstraße ) in 1899 .
