Maria Dragoni
Maria Dragoni (born December 22, 1958 in Procida ) is an Italian opera singer ( coloratura soprano ).
Life
After studying at the Conservatory in Frosinone, Maria Dragoni became a member of the RAI Choir in Rome in 1977 . After further studies with Rodolfo Celletti and Gina Cigna , she won the Maria Callas singing competition in Rome in 1983. In 1984 she made her debut at the Opera in Jesi in the title role of the opera Il Pirata by Vincenzo Bellini . An international career then began with appearances in Naples, Milan, Turin, Venice, Wiesbaden, Strasbourg, Montpellier, Nancy, Paris, Zurich and New York as well as at the Macerata Festival and in the Arena di Verona .
Maria Dragoni's repertoire consists primarily of dramatic coloratura parts from Italian opera literature, such as “Paolina” in Poliuto and the title character in “ Anna Bolena ” by Gaetano Donizetti . But she was also successful as “Aida” in the opera of the same name by Giuseppe Verdi .
