The Hobbing Work

Maria Hobbing works in the field of painting as well as in the field of installation and performance, which she combines with texts and materials such as acrylic glass and foils.

In the field of painting, she depicts artistic processes that contribute to the compression of the motifs in the given image space. In doing so, she abandons clearly conceived basic forms in order to manipulate her images with veils and veils.

reception

I would not speak of the framework in the picture, but of the framework of the picture with Maria Hobbing. Her pictures, built from a multitude of brush strokes, often have architecture-related titles such as “Passage”, “Speicher” or “Hortus Conclusus”. The view enclosed by the vertical, horizontal and diagonal axes is led into the depths in various ways and there caught, broken, mirrored or alienated released. Because it is possible to follow the picture titles too easily and to see images of architectural spaces in these pictures too quickly, but a trap. In some of the pictures abstract elements have already gotten into them, which can nevertheless be read figuratively.
