Maria Luisa Caroni

Maria Luisa Caroni (born July 22, 1943 in Locarno ) is a Swiss diplomat . From November 1994 to May 1999 she was Swiss Ambassador in Colombo and from May 1999 to August 2003 Swiss Ambassador to Athens .

Career

Maria Luisa Caroni joined the diplomatic service in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) in 1971 . First she was a stagiaire in Bern and Mexico .

In 1973 she returned to Bern, where she worked as a diplomatic assistant until 1974. From 1974 to 1978 she was embassy secretary at the Swiss embassy in Buenos Aires and from 1978 to 1981 embassy secretary in Tel-Aviv . From 1981 she was first employed as a diplomatic assistant and then as deputy head of the information service of the FDFA. In 1984, she was as Counselor to Abidjan displaced from where in 1987 the transfer to Mexico and in 1991 the transfer to Rome was made.

Maria Luisa Caroni had her first assignment as ambassador from 1994 to 1999 as the Swiss ambassador in Colombo. The next station was in 1999, when she was transferred to Athens, where Pierre Monod succeeded her as ambassador in 2003 . Maria Luisa Caroni entered 2003 in retirement .
