Maria Müller-Summer

Maria Müller-Sommer (born May 4, 1922 in Berlin ; née Janicki ) is a German stage publisher .

Career

Müller-Sommer studied theater studies , German literature and art history in Berlin and received his doctorate in 1945 with a thesis on censorship in Berlin theater life. The following year she joined Gustav Kiepenheuer Bühnenvertriebs-GmbH as a dramaturge . She acquired the company's shares and in 1950 became the sole managing partner. In the following years she tied numerous young or in Germany still unknown authors such as Günter Grass , Jean Giraudoux , Arthur Miller or Jean Anouilh to her publishing house.

In addition, she was chairwoman of the administrative board of VG Wort and has been its honorary president since 1999. She is a member of the PEN Center Germany .
