Maria Maia dos Reis e Costa

Maria Maia dos Reis e Costa (born May 31, 1958 in Baucau , Portuguese Timor ) is a politician from East Timor . She is a member of FRETILIN and in 1975 was one of the founding members of the party's women's organization, the Organização Popular de Mulheres Timorense (OPMT).

Reis e Costa graduated from the Universidade Nasionál Timór Lorosa'e (UNTL) with a degree in teaching sciences . During the Indonesian occupation, as a member of the Organização Popular da Mulher Timorense (OPMT), she was one of the brigadistas , volunteer teachers who taught adults and children to read and write alongside revolutionary ideas.

From 2007 to 2012 she was a member of the National Parliament of East Timor . There she was a member of the Commission for Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Natural Resources and the Environment (Commission D).
