Maria Monti (actually Maria Monticelli , born June 26, 1935 in Milan ) is an Italian singer-songwriter and actress .

Life

Monti began her career as an interpreter of her own songs in cabaret shows in Milan in the 1950s. In 1956 she made her television debut on the New Talent Show, "Primo Applauso". In 1959 she was seen for the first time as an actress in the lead role in one of the four parts of La svolta pericolosa of the RAI . Since the beginning of the following decade , she was not only artistically connected to her colleague Giorgio Gaber . She achieved a number of successes as a “Cantautor”, with folk- based pieces and the like. a. presented on stage with guitarist Luca Balbo . In 1961 she took part in the Sanremo Festival with the title "Benzina e cerini". The following year she made her first feature film and played theater over and over again. However, Monti was denied the big breakthrough. To date she has appeared in 35 films, recorded twelve long-playing records and numerous singles. She is also active on stage to this day.
