action
This time inspector Barth from Scotland Yard has to look for the famous "needle in a haystack" while hunting down the murderer. A student at a Catholic girls' boarding school is found murdered in London's Hyde Park. The only clue the police can find at the scene is a green pin.
Inspector Barth's first suspicions are directed against the Italian teacher Henry Rossini. He had stayed near the scene of the crime with his pupil Elisabeth, with whom he is having an affair, and got involved in contradictions when he was first questioned. A short time later, the schoolgirl Janet is also murdered. After Elisabeth becomes the third victim of the murderer, Rossini tries to solve the crime with her own research and comes across a girl named Solange.
Solange is a former member of a committed boarding school clique. The identification mark of the girls involved is a green pin. With this knowledge, Inspector Barth reveals a terrible secret: the girl clique held illegal sex parties together with a boy clique from a neighboring boarding school. Solange, the daughter of Professor Bawcombe, became pregnant as a result of such a party. To cover this up, the rest of the girls forced her to undergo an illegal abortion. From this unsuccessful abortion comes the state of shock from which the girl now suffers. The professor found this out. In revenge for the desecration of his daughter, he disguised himself as a priest and committed the murders and left a green pin on each victim.
Reviews
“An Edgar Wallace film, shot in the manner of a chamber play. […] Unfortunately, the film is too broad. But it still captivates. Good actors, u. a. Karin Baal and Fabio Testi, Joachim Fuchsberger (pulls off his elegant detective arm strap), and Günther Stoll (stays pale), give him a level. "
"The uncomfortable thing about this harshly staged crime thriller is how it is mixed with speculative sex."
"Director Massimo Dallamano cleverly knitted the many threads together."
“Confused thriller. The Edgar Wallace series had reached Italy, but not much in common with the earlier thrillers. (Rating: moderate) "
"Only moderately exciting Wallace film, which has the appearance of a psychological thriller, but is full of inconsistencies and suffocated in fashionable clichés."
