Maria Perlorentzou

Maria Perlorentzou , Greek Μαρία Περλορέντζου , also Maria Perlorentzou Pompili (* 1942 in Athens ) is a Greek neo-Graecist .

Perlorentzou studied philology at the University of Athens and graduated in 1970 with a diploma (πτυχίο). This was followed by two years of postgraduate studies at the University of Bari , where she was a research assistant from 1972 to 1973. From 1973 to 1977 she was a lecturer at the University of Gabriele d'Annunzio in Chieti , and since 1977 as an associate professor at the University of Bari.

Perlorentzou works mainly on modern Greek literature of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It has special attention to the two writers Evanthia Kairi (Ευανθία Καΐρη, 1799-1866) and Elisavet Mutzan Martinengu (Ελισάβετ Μουτζάν Μαρτινέγκου, 1801-1832), the poetic work of Aris Alexandrou (1922-1978), the Kostas Stergiopoulos (Κώστας Στεργιόπουλος, * 1926) and Andreas Pagoulatos (Αντρέας Παγουλάτος, 1948–2010) as well as the translations of Italian poets by Kostis Palamas (1859–1943). She also rediscovered futuristic texts by Alk (iviadis) Gian (nòpulos) (Αλκιβιάδης Γιαννόπουλος, 1896–1981) and edited them with a translation. In the field of prose she has worked on the science fiction of Dimosthenis Vutiras (Δημοσθένης Βουτυράς, 1872–1958) and on the prose of Stratis Tsirkas (Στρατής Τσίρκας, 1911–1980) and Giannis Psycharis . She has also translated Konstantinos Kavafis and Kostas Stergiopoulos into Italian.
