Maria Simma

Maria Simma (born February 5, 1915 in Sonntag im Großwalsertal , Vorarlberg ; † March 16, 2004 in Bezau ) was a mystic whose books have found wide distribution.

Life

Maria Simma gained national fame through her mysterious religious manifestations . Her request to enter the monastery was rejected by a total of three monasteries due to her poor health. Eventually she returned to Sunday , where she worked in the father's household and did the church cleaning. From 1940 onwards, according to her own account, poor souls appeared to her , mostly at night asking for redemption for sins committed. In addition to intensive prayer , she allegedly had to endure nausea, cold and abdominal pain for days in order to redeem the poor souls from purgatory . From 1954, according to Simma, prayers and donations could also redeem the poor souls. Maria Simma passed on the donated amounts to the world mission. Until 1990, their popularity increased more and more and buses full of pilgrims visited them on Sunday.

resonance

The total circulation of her book “My Experiences with Poor Souls” is over 300,000 copies. The German edition was printed 190,000 times, the French (until 2005) 58,000 times.
