Maria and her children is a film by the director Fritz Poppenberg about the work of the midwife Maria Grundberger, who, as an employee of the Life Center Munich, has been providing so-called "sidewalk advice" for years. According to her own statements, she and her street team prevented more than five hundred abortions . The film premiered in Berlin in 2007.

content

The film documents the activities of Maria Grundberger and shows the stories of several women who decided against an abortion after consulting with Grundberger. The women concerned accuse state-sponsored advice centers , authorities and associations of "systematically playing down" abortion. An example tells of a young person who had been offered 5,000 euros for an abortion by her boyfriend's parents, but who nevertheless decided to continue the pregnancy after intensive discussions with Grundberger. Another example reports the "suffering and regret" of a woman who had an abortion. Another case tells of a man who tried to prevent the abortion of the embryo or fetus he had created by all legal means, but was unsuccessful. Excerpts from a letter to a pregnant woman ("Give your baby the chance to hug you!") Are quoted in the film.

The examples are commented on by legal and psychotherapy professionals. The former abortion doctor Stojan Adasevic from Belgrade also has his say, who carried out over 60,000 abortions himself until he finally became a committed opponent of abortion .

The tz , however, reported that Grundberger ambushed women willing to have abortion for forced counseling and, u. a. bloody shock images of abortions. As a result, several of the pregnant women have already suffered nervous breakdowns.
