Maria von Beroldingen (born August 2, 1853 in Ratzenried ; † July 10, 1911 there ) was a German painter.

Life

Maria von Beroldingen was born in 1853 in Ratzenried Castle as the daughter of Count Paul Ignaz von Beroldingen. From 1880 she learned the basics of painting from the animal painters Guido von Maffei and Victor Weishaupt . In 1886 she was able to exhibit at the Münchner Kunstverein for the first time. During this time she still signed her pictures with the synonym Marie Bergen , and later with her name. In the beginning von Beroldingen mainly painted her own dachshunds, later on in small formats with smaller animal species such as rabbits, badgers, foxes, cats, partridges and black grouse . Hunting scenes and landscapes were among her favorite subjects.

In addition to the Münchner Kunstverein, von Beroldingen also exhibited in the Glaspalast in Munich as well as in Prague and Vienna. In 1906 she received an honorary diploma from the Concours International des Arts de la Femme in Paris for the painting Mountain Finches in Snow . Very little of her pictures has survived today.

In Ratzenried Castle, she designed the Art Nouveau glazing in the dining room, door carvings on the first floor and fabric paintings in the 17th / 18th style in the tower room. Century (1892). Carvings have also been preserved on the count's gallery in the Ratzenried Church, and she also designed wall paneling for the choir. In the Ausgedinghaus she designed the window reveals in an antique and baroque style.

Von Beroldingen remained unmarried throughout her life.
