Mariana Sahakian (born September 2, 1977 in Armenia ) is a Lebanese table tennis player . She took part in the 2016 Olympic Games .

Career

Mariana Sahakian was born in Armenia, married in 2002 and thereby acquired Lebanese citizenship. She moved to Lebanon, stayed in Armenia from 2007 to 2014 and then returned to Lebanon.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she was the third table tennis player in Lebanon (after Larissa Choueib (1996) and Nivine Mamjouglian (2012)) at the Olympic Games. To participate, Mariana Sahakian qualified at the Asian qualifying tournaments. She only competed in the individual competition and lost in the preliminary round against the Nigerian Funke Oshonaike .

In addition, Mariana Sahakian was represented at several world championships, around 1997 (for Armenia), 2006 , 2007 , 2016 , 2018 and 2019 . In doing so, she never came close to medal ranks.
