Marianne Schmidt

Marianne Schmidt , b. Lange (born June 30, 1929 in Berlin ; † September 18, 2017 ) was a German literary scholar and author .

biography

After studying pedagogy, German and theater studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin , Marianne Schmidt received her doctorate in Greifswald in 1966. After working for the magazine neue deutsche literatur , in 1969 a lecturer at the Leipzig Institute for Literature "Johannes R. Becher" . In 1979 Marianne Schmidt became an associate professor. She mainly dealt with contemporary authors such as Wolfgang Borchert , Erwin Strittmatter and Anna Seghers .

She was married to the writer Konrad Schmidt (1926–1995) since 1951 , with whom she has two sons. Since 1960 Marianne Schmidt has been a member of the German Writers 'Association (from 1973: Writers' Association of the GDR), since 1988 of the International Wolfgang Borchert Society , since 1990 of the Association of Writers in the IG Medien (merged into ver.di in 2001 ). She had lived in Kleinmachnow since the 1950s, and she was also buried in the forest cemetery.
