Marianne "Mari" Steinbrecher (born August 23, 1983 in São Paulo , São Paulo , Brazil ) is a Brazilian volleyball player who has been playing for Fenerbahçe İstanbul in Turkey since 2012 .

Career

Steinbrecher is the daughter of Russian and German parents. She came to volleyball when she was fourteen. She first played for various Brazilian clubs. With Osasco she won the Salonpas Cup in 2001, 2002 and 2005. In 2006 she moved to the Italian league at Robursport Pesaro , where she became Italian champion in 2008 and won the CEV Cup . Then the external attacker returned to Brazil. In 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009 she won the World Grand Prix with the Brazilian national team. Steinbrecher took part in the Olympic Games twice: in 2004 in Athens she took fourth place and in 2008 in Beijing she won the gold medal. She missed her third Olympic Games in London in 2012 due to an injury. She has been playing for Fenerbahçe İstanbul since 2012 and took third place at the World Cup for club teams in Doha , Qatar .
