Mariano Aguerre
Mariano Aguerre (born May 25, 1969 in Pilar , Buenos Aires Province ) is an Argentine polo player who achieved a handicap of 10 in Argentina and is one of the world's best.
Life
Mariano Aguerre played together with Gonzalo Pieres (senior) in the Ellerstina Polo Team , with whom he won the Triple Corona ( Tortugas Open , Hurlingham Open and Argentine Open ) in 1994 . But his international career as a professional player started much earlier when he won the USPA Gold Cup in 1987 with Peter Brant's "White Birch" team . Seven more USPA Gold Cups followed, other important tournament victories were the Sotogrande Gold Cup and the CV Whitney Cup. He mainly plays in Argentina and the USA.
By 2010 he took part in the Campeonato Argentino Abierto de Polo 17 times , won eight times and made it to the finals three more times. In Argentina he was the captain of the La Dolfina Polo Team until the end of 2009 , where he usually played on position 3.
Aguerre is married to Tatiana Pieres, daughter of Gonzalo Pieres (senior). He has three daughters, Sophie, Lola and Carmen, and one son (Antonio). In addition to his success as a polo player, he has also made a name for himself as a horse breeder . The world's first cloned polo horse was born in his horse breeding station in the USA on April 22, 2010.
