The Marians Jazzroom is a jazz club founded in December 1992 with 126 seats in Bern .

history

The Marians Jazzroom was built and opened in 1992 together with the Unique Hotel Innere Enge by Hans Zurbrügg and Marianne Gauer.

Music veterans such as BB King , Dizzy Gillespie , Oscar Peterson ¸ Louis Bellson , Milt Hinton and Clark Terry performed there, as well as musicians of the younger generation such as Joey Alexander , Hiromi Uehara , Catherine Russell and Cécile McLorin Salvant .

280 individual concerts are held annually in the Marians Jazzroom. From Tuesday to Saturday, the Marians organizes two concerts per evening with jazz or blues musicians (from September to March). The program changes weekly and includes jazz, blues, soul and gospel . The Marians Jazzroom is the main venue for the Bern International Jazz Festival from March to May .

The Marians Jazzroom is the only Swiss jazz club that the jazz magazine Down Beat mentions annually. Concerts are also reported in Jazz'n'more , in the newspapers Der Bund and Berner Zeitung and in All About Jazz .
