Marie-Edwige Hartig (born September 26, 1980 in Bafoussam ) is an Austrian politician of the Greens of Cameroonian origin.

Life

At the age of seven, Hartig emigrated to Linz , where her mother worked as a nurse . She attended elementary school and the Bundesrealgymnasium in Traun . After completing the lower level , she switched to the HBLA for fashion and clothing technology in Linz, where she also passed the Matura . In 1998 their daughter was born. From 2002 she studied psychology at the University of Salzburg and graduated in 2012 with a diploma thesis on the subject of "Aculturation strategies of black Africans in the greater Linz area".

Hartig was chairman of PLAST, the student group of the professional association of Austrian psychologists. In addition to German, she also speaks French , English and the Upper Austrian dialect . Hartig calls himself Austro-Bamileke , where Bamileke is the name of their tribe in Cameroon .

Political commitment

Hartig was on the board of the Black Community Upper Austria, the umbrella organization of African cultural associations in Upper Austria .

In the municipal elections on September 27, 2009, she moved into the Linz municipal council for the Greens and is therefore the first black councilor in Linz.

On the neo-Nazi website Alpen-Donau.info , Hartig was shown before the municipal council election under the heading So far it has come - negress may be defamed councilor in Linz . Hartig was also exposed to hostility and criticism from the Austrian Freedom Party in the run-up to the election.

Hartig has been a member of the supervisory board of GWG Linz and the board of Südwind Upper Austria since 2009 .
