Bafoussam is the capital of the western region of Cameroon , in the Bamboutos Mountains . It is one of the largest cities in Cameroon with over 340,000 inhabitants (as of 2008) and is the trading center of the region. In it are coffee , tobacco and tea grown.
The city has a coffee faculty and a brewery . It is also the home of the Bamileke and the seat of the chief of the Mifi department .
Bafoussam is the seat of the diocese of Bafoussam and the Brigade d'intervention rapide of the Cameroonian army.
