Marie-France Colignon

Marie-France Colignon (born November 16, 1959 ) is a former French judoka . She won two silver medals at world championships and was European champion in 1985.

Athletic career

Marie-France Colignon fought until 1988 in the super lightweight, the weight class up to 48 kilograms. In 1982 she won her only French championship.

In 1980, New York City hosted the first World Judo Championships for women. The French women have won in the competitions a medal, Marie-France Colignon won a bronze medal in the leichtesten class in each of the eight weight classes. In March 1982 Colignon finished third at the European Championships in Oslo. At the end of 1982 the World Championships took place in Paris. Colignon reached the final by defeating the Dutchwoman Jola Bink . In the final, the British Karen Briggs won , Colignon received the silver medal. Two years later at the 1984 World ChampionshipsColignon reached the final again in Vienna by defeating Australian Julie Reardon . Like two years earlier, she received the silver medal after a loss to Karen Briggs. The 1985 European Championships took place in Landskrona in March 1985 . In the semifinals she defeated the British Ann-Marie Briody and in the final the German Birgit Friedrich . In the same year, the French women also won the European team championships. Colignon was still internationally active until 1989, but she won no more medals at international championships.
