Marie-José Gröger

Marie-José Gröger van Meurs (* 1938 in The Hague ) is an Austrian painter and graphic artist of abstract expressionism who was born in the province of South Holland .

Live and act

Gröger graduated from the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in 1964 and then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . From 1974 to 1976 she completed a glassblower - teaching in London and 1978/1979 she spent a master school year at the University of Arts and Industrial Design Linz .

In 1991/92 she lectured on the subject of etching at the Academy in Stift Geras . With a grant from the Federal Ministry of Education and Art, she was in Israel in 1995 and with a grant from the Ministry of Culture in Belgium in 1997 and 1998 and in Japan in 2007. During a work stay in Norway, she worked on large portrait commissions. Further trips took her to Italy, Greece, France, Sicily, Calabria, China, Israel, Belgium, England and Japan, where she attracted attention with solo and group exhibitions.

Her works are mainly in Austrian public collections, but also in museums in Belgium, Holland, Germany and Sweden.

Gröger is a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists Upper Austria , the Upper Austrian Art Association , the Innviertler Künstlergilde and the Kunstforum Salzkammergut . She lives and works in Attnang-Puchheim .
