The Association of Artists of Upper Austria - bvoö was founded in 1945 as a professional association of visual artists (Upper Austria section) - BVOÖ .

The association of artists sees itself as an independent platform for contemporary art. Every year the association presents ten exhibitions in the fields of painting, drawing, sculpture, new media and cross-media projects.

The association has its gallery in the Ursulinenhof , in the Upper Austrian Kulturquartier , in Linz .

history

The artists' association was founded on December 20, 1945, immediately after the Second World War, as a professional association of visual artists (Upper Austria section) - BVOÖ , to enable artists to continue working after the war. In addition to organizing exhibitions, one of the tasks of the association was to support artists in emergency situations.

Initially, the apartment of the first President, Hans Strigl, was available. After that, the location was changed several times. Since then, individual, group and themed exhibitions have been presented in the gallery space in the Ursulinenhof , which was occupied in 1974 . The association has been part of the Upper Austrian Culture Quarter since 2012 .

The name used until 2014 Professional Association of Visual Artists of Upper Austria - BVOÖ was renamed Association Artist of Upper Austria - bvoö replaced. The association no longer appears as a regional association of the professional association of visual artists in Austria .

Exhibitions and projects are documented in the annual publication. Some exhibitions are accompanied by catalogs.
