Vilma Eckl was the daughter of the railway engineer Georg Eckl . In her long-term home town of Linz, she attended the private painting schools of Rosa Scherer , Bertha von Tarnóczy and Tina Kofler . In addition to the influence that German Expressionism - especially the Munich group Der Blaue Reiter - had on them, Matthias May's painting school in Linz was decisive for their artistic development.
