Wolfgang Kirchmayr

Wolfgang Kirchmayr (* 1943 in Thening ) is an Austrian engraver , sculptor and university professor .

Live and act

After the HTL Steyr , he worked as a steel engraver in Bregenz , Linz and Bonn from 1961 to 1965 , before he began studying at the Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences in 1965, graduating in 1968 and working as a freelance sculptor. In 1974 he received the State Culture Promotion Prize of the Province of Upper Austria .

From 1973 he taught at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz , from 1983 he was a federal teacher with a course on three-dimensional shape development and materials science, and in 2000 he was appointed full university professor and dean of studies . He retired in 2005.

Kirchmayr took part in symposia and showed his works in group and solo exhibitions in Austria, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Poland, Spain and Portugal. He has been awarded numerous domestic and foreign prizes. He is a member of the professional association of fine artists of Upper Austria and the artists' association MAERZ .

The artist lives and works in Scharten .
