Wolfgang Hemelmayr (* 1956 in Linz , Upper Austria) is an Austrian graphic artist , painter and sculptor .

Wolfgang Hemelmayr has been working as a freelance artist since 1983 (first studio in Münzbach / Upper Austria), and since 1984 in his current studio on a renovated farm in the lower Mühlviertel (Kastendorf near Königswiesen ). Long study trips and study visits took him to Turkey ( Anatolia ) and Persia (1983), southern and central Spain (1987), East Africa ( Tanzania , 1988), Greece ( Crete , 1997), Scandinavia ( Sweden , 2015).

Wolfgang Hemelmayr worked by organizing workshops in the accompanying program on the Upper Austria. State exhibition in 1989 with (topic at the time: "The message of graphics - six centuries of printed art" in Lambach ).

Works

Wolfgang Hemelmayr is now an internationally known artist who mainly works as a draftsman and graphic artist .

The main thematic focus is on nudes and body studies, as well as discussions with landscape and nature, which he traces in minute excerpts, parts and fragments. In the professional world, his style of intensively working through and reworking his motifs is emphasized by a multiple layered and dense line structure ( lineament ) and surface design, which gives his representations a special abstracting, reality condensing and redefining quality.

Technically, Wolfgang Hemel Mayr operates at its drawings black and colored chalk with charcoal or graphite , as well as its etchings in the techniques Etching and Aquatinta . It is characteristic of him that the printing plate of a work is repeatedly processed and revised so that new accents and aspects of the motif emerge with each revision.
