Alfons Ortner

Alfons Ortner (* 1907 ; † June 14, 1992 ) was an Austrian painter and graphic artist as well as a university professor .

Live and act

From 1945 he taught at the art school in Linz , from 1959 he was its director and developed it into an academy for applied arts. From 1973 to 1977 Ortner was the founding rector of the University of Design, and since 1998 University of Artistic and Industrial Design Linz .

Alfons Ortner was a member of the newly constituted MAERZ artists' association in 1952 . Ortner was one of the artists who exhibited before 1938 and in some cases also during the Nazi era. In the 1970s he worked as a metal designer at VÖEST.
