Alfred Billy

Alfred Billy (* 1920 in Linz ; † 2015 there ) was an Austrian lithographer, graphic artist and university lecturer .

Live and act

Alfred Billy completed an apprenticeship in lithography and after the Second World War was the technical director of the Waltl-Weigl print shop in Linz, where packaging for Tietze fig coffee, Gerhardinger Neapolitan slices as well as tourism advertising posters, election posters and images of saints were produced.

He later became workshop manager at what is now the Kunstuni Linz , where he was professor of printmaking and typography until his retirement in 1983. From 1985 he headed the workshop for artistic lithography and etching at Sigharting Castle in the Innviertel.

Billy worked with numerous artists, such as Alfred Kubin , Hans Staudacher , Jürgen Messensee and Bernhard Luginbühl .
